Burial plans are underway for the murdered police sergeant who worked at Deputy President William Ruto’s office at Harambee House Annex.

Sergeant Kipyegon Kenei will be buried at his parent’s home in Chamasis in Rongai, Nakuru County on Saturday.

The family spokesman Eliud Chesoni said the body of Kenei, would be ferried to Nakuru on Friday for overnight stay at Umash Funeral Home.

“Everything is ready. He will be buried on Saturday but of course Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are going on with investigations,” Chesoni said.

Kenei, an Administration Police officer, was found dead in his house in Nairobi’s Imara Daima Estate on February 20.

Although police had earlier described it as suicide, detectives now believe he was killed by three people who are suspected to have visited his home before his body was found.

Detectives are narrowing down on the three suspects who also cleared his phone records and deactivated his social media accounts.

Kenei’s father, retired chief John Chesang, described the death of his son as the saddest moment in his life saying that he had a lot of hopes in him.

“We don’t understand what happened but what we all know as a family is that my son never killed himself. He was a vibrant and jovial young man with great plans. Whoever killed my son should be brought to book,” Chesang said.

Kenei leaves behind a wife and two children.

Before his death, Kenei had been summoned alongside four other police officers to record a statement over a Sh39 billion arms scam involving former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa.

The former CS has been charged with defrauding some foreigners of Sh11 million that had been paid to facilitate the arms deal, which was allegedly signed at Harambee Annex. He denied the charges.
