Friday blackout to affect 3 counties

Kenya Power has announced a temporary blackout scheduled to affect three counties on Friday, August 9, 2024.

The utility company cited routine network maintenance as the reason for the planned blackout.

The affected areas will include parts of Kakamega, Homa Bay, and Murang’a counties.

In the Western Region, specific areas in Kakamega County that will experience the blackout include Butere, Manyulia, Manyala Hospital, Masala, Maondo, and adjacent customers. The outage in this region is expected to last from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

In the South Nyanza Region, parts of Homa Bay County will also be without power. The affected areas include Kisaku, Tonga, Kiabuya, Magunga, Kogelo, Lwanda Gwassi, Nyatambe, Nyenga, NYS Lambwe, Sanjwero, Kigoto, and surrounding customers. This outage is set to occur from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The Mt. Kenya Region will also see disruptions, specifically in Murang’a County. Areas such as Maragua, Ichagaki, Nginda, Gachocho, and their neighbouring regions will be affected. The power outage here will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
