Thursday blackout to affect 7 counties

Kenya Power has announced a scheduled power outage set for Thursday, July 25, 2024, that will affect seven counties across Kenya.

The outage is planned for maintenance purposes, with different regions experiencing temporary power cuts throughout the day.

In a statement on its official website, Kenya Power said, “Notice is hereby given under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules that the electricity supply will be interrupted as follows: (Periodic interruptions are necessary to facilitate maintenance and upgrades of power lines, connect new customers, or replace power lines during construction, etc.).”

The temporary outage is expected to have a significant impact on various sectors and daily activities in these areas.

Kenya Power said counties affected by this blackout include; Nakuru, Uasin Gishu, Kisii, Nyeri, Tharaka Nithi, Murang’a, and Kiambu.

Nakuru

Area: Kapkures, Ngamboo

Time: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

Places affected:  Kapkures Center, Ingobor, Lalwet, Tumaini Cottages, Mogoon, Kapnandi, Mombasaa, Kwa Michael & adjacent customers.

Area: Parts of Naivasha Southlake

Time: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Places affected: Vandenberg Flowers, Simba & Sopa Lodges, Sawela, Flamingo Flowers, Nini & Lamona Farms, Longonot Horticulture, Rumi Flowers, Parts of Kedong Ranch, Naivasha Country Club, Parts of Karagita, Olij Farm, Kiwanja Ndege & adjacent customers.

Uasin Gishu

Area: Kahoya, Bondeni

Time: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Places affected:  Kahoya Gynocare, Bondeni, Kahoya Sec & adjacent customers.

Kisii

Area: Boitangare, Nyamagwa

Time: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Places affected: Emenwa Mkt, Matierio Sec, Igare Mkt, Nyamagwa Mission Hosp, Nyamagwa Boys, Boitangare Sec, Matierio Saf Booster & adjacent customers.

Nyeri

Area: Ndunyo, Guthuthi T Factory

Time: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Places affected:  Birithia Girls, Mwanda TBC, Mahiga C/Fact, Kenyatta Mahiga High Sch, Kagere, Gachami, Mahiga Girls Sch, Mathakwaini & Sec Sch, Thiriku C/Fact, Mathenge Technical Institute, Gitugi T/Fact, Gitugi, Munyange H/Centre, Njigari Pri, Rwatheini Village, Kihome, Miiri, Gaturuturu, Gathuthi T/Fact, Ndugamano Sec, Ihithe Boys High Sch, Hubuini Village, Mukarara & adjacent customers.

Kiambu

Area: Kiambu Town

Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Area: Juja Town, Kenyatta Road

Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
