South Mugirango Member of Parliament (MP) Silvanus Osoro owes his ascension in politics to John Mbadi Ng’ongo who has just been nominated the Cabinet Secretary (CS) National Treasury and Economic Planning.
While congratulating Mbadi for his nomination, Osoro disclosed that he used to be the errand boy for the Treasury nominee.
Osoro, who is a member of the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party and also the Majority Whip in the National Assembly, said that his rise in politics came when Mbadi introduced him to the late Fidel Odinga who subsequently linked him to political supremo Raila Odinga.
“Some years back, I used to be the ‘Come here, go there’ boy for Mbadi. He then introduced me to the late Fidel Odinga and subsequently to Raila Odinga,” Osoro wrote on X on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.
The South Mugirango lawmaker rejoiced, noting that Mbadi and he have been reunited by his cabinet nomination as they now both serve the government despite their political difference.
“Years later, we read from different scripts in politics but I still remained to be his BOY. TUMERUDIANA tena. CONGRATULATIONS SIR,” Osoro remarked.
CS nominees
Mbadi is among four members of the opposition party ODM who have been picked to join President William Ruto’s cabinet in the new broad-based government of national unity.
Ruto on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, nominated the second batch of Cabinet members, bringing his total nominees to 20 – including four from the opposition.
ODM’s decision to join the government has sparked divisions within the political outfit with MPs like Babu Owino openly rejecting the position of his party leader Raila Odinga.
On June 19, 2024, Babu Owino boldly announced on the social media platform X that he would not support the government, distancing himself from ODM leader Raila Odinga’s approach.
“My decision is to be with the People. I will not support this defunct Government no matter the consequences,” Owino declared, signalling a rift within the ODM party.
In a show of support, Martha Karua lauded Babu Owino’s courage in a post on X.
Raila’s move also triggered a larger fallout within the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition.
The coalition is currently divided over Raila Odinga’s decision to engage with President William Ruto.
Raila’s recent moves have isolated him from other key Azimio principals, including Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
