Narc Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua has lauded the Gen Z protesters for their courage in what she said is liberating the country.

Speaking on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, Karua underscored that the youthful protesters are waking the country, releasing it from the shackles of poor governance.

While expressing her admiration for the young protesters’ courage to demand accountability, Karua stated that the demonstrators are finally putting the government to task and asking the right questions, which she says would steer the country in the right direction.

She also pointed out that she was elated to be alive to witness the revolution happening in the country.

“I’m so grateful to be alive at a time like this to witness what is happening in this country, Gen Z waking up the country to reclaim our agencies because is like we lost our agency, our voices and Gen Z has done it better than we ever did it as politicians,” Karua stated.

“The Gen is sparing nobody, they have initiated the conversation we’ve wanted. Deep in our hearts, would have wanted to initiate with the church but had not.”

Adding;

“They are saying hey, wait a minute, who does the state serve, the political elite or masses? That is the question be accountable to us? We are the owners of the state. We are sovereign. And that’s how the state is currently designed. Everything is for a favoured few and the rest are having it rough.”

The Narc leader also condemned police for arresting peaceful anti-government protesters, accusing the officers of criminalizing the national flag.

“Criminalizing the flag,” Karua says.

The protester, Peter Njogu, was arrested early today in Eldoret.

According to him, the officers arrested him for buying the national flag and a whistle.

Naitwa Peter Njogu mimi nimeshikwa tu pale nilikuwa nimenunua bendera na virimbi na nikashikwa. Wameniambia nabadilisha serekali,” he said.

“Kununua bendera na kupuliza kipende changu na simu yangu wamenishika,hakuna kitu wameniambia mpaka saa hizi. Wameniambia niingie hivi kuna maswali fulani wanataka waniulize. Sijui kama wataniachilia.”
