Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga has urged Generation Zs to involve elders in their movement for guidance.
According to Oburu, Gen Zs should not move alone adding that involving the political class is the only way a country can be guided.
Oburu sentiments come days after Gen Zs and a section of Kenyans opposed Azimio la Umoja One Kenya collation Raila Odinga’s call for national dialogue amid the crisis stating that they don’t need the involvement of the political class in their movement.
“I wish the Gen-Zs well, but please be guided by the elders. Don’t move alone and don’t say you don’t want a political class. How will a country be guided if you don’t want a political class? Which class do you want to lead the country?” he said.
National talks
Oburu further disclosed that the Orange Democratic Movement(ODM) party has decided to go for the national talks adding that the dialogue aims to bring national unity.
“We as ODM have a policy and have decided to go for talks to negotiate so that the next government being formed after this cabinet has been dissolved is a government of national unity where people will be there,” he said.
“Those who don’t want to negotiate for that kind of coalition we cannot force them as ODM we are moving forward and we want to find inclusions largely the rest of Kenyans apart from the two communities have been excluded so there must be a way of inclusion.”
Call for dialogue
On Tuesday, July 9, 2024, Raila Odinga called for national dialogue to address the current crisis facing the country.
Speaking during the signing of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Bill into law, Odinga said dialogue is the only solution that will deal with the fundamental issues that are currently affecting the country.
He added that the proposed dialogue will be very engaging.
“We have had consultations and have agreed that a dialogue is the way forward out of the crisis that we are facing in the country. We have agreed that give people an opportunity to express themselves to come out with the problems that are ailing our country today so that a lasting solution can be found,” he said.
“We want it to be a very engaging conversation. We agree on the way forward that will deal with the fundamental issues that are affecting our society today.”
