President William Ruto has vowed that his government will take action against those involved in the killings of the people whose bodies are being retrieved in Kware, Embakasi South, Nairobi.

The President, for the first time, commented on the issue as more bodies continued to be retrieved from the dumpsite on the second day.

While addressing the members of the public at Our Lady of Glory Kaptagat Girls High School in Elgeyo Marakwet County on Saturday, July 13, 2024, the Head of State said he has ordered the authorities concerned to undertake a deep investigation and bring to book those involved.

The president admitted that the killings of people go against the provisions of the Kenyan constitution and every tenet of human rights.

Court action

He further vowed that the government will ensure those involved will be taken through the justice system, and if found guilty, they must be punished according to the law.

Kwa hivyo, those who are charged with making sure that there is a comprehensive investigation on matters that we have witnessed in Kware where many Kenyans, including young girls, have lost their lives, that process must be expedited.

“The truth must be found so that those who are involved in these heinous acts must be punished, taken to court, and the law applied to its fullest extent,” Ruto vowed.

Ruto’s promise comes at a time when four more bodies have been retrieved from the site.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officials, homicide team, and Recce squad are taking part in the operation of retrieving the bodies on the second day since the process began on Friday, July 13, 2024.
