Thousands of Kenyans have flocked Nyayo Stadium for the requiem service of former president Daniel arap Moi who died last week on Tuesday.
People started streaming into the city stadium as early as 5 am.
The former president’s body left Lee Funeral Home at 8.27 am under heavy military security.
The service is scheduled to start at 10 am when President Uhuru Kenyatta, government officials and state guests arrive.
At least 10 heads of state are expected at the requiem mass.
About 30,000 people, over 10 Heads of State and seven delegates from different countries are expected to attend the funeral service.
Moi’s body left the Lee Funeral Home in the morning drawn by a gun carriage under the escort of the military.
Some of the dignitaries who have arrived are Tanzania’s former presidents Benjamin Mkapa and Jakaya Kikwete.
