A South African MP has lamented that Kenyan MPs appear to have better perks than those in his country.
Nqabayomzi Kwankwa, who is in Kenya for a consultative meeting with East African MPs, said it made him realise that he was an MP in the wrong country.
In a tweet, he said that Kenyan MPs had the use of a driver, a bodyguard, a personal assistant and a communication officer while in South Africa they had to fend for themselves.
Mr Kwankwa shared a photo of himself with Senator Isaac Mwaura:
Kenyan legislators are the second-highest paid in the world, after Nigeria, according to a study by the UK-based Independent Parliamentary Standard Authority and the International Monetary Fund in 2019.
