Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Hajji has eulogized the country’s second President Daniel Arap Moi as a prayerful, hard-working man.

Haji described Moi as a man of few words whom he closely interacted with during his school days at Kabarak High school.

“I interacted with him closely during my school days where he was the school’s patron. He was a man who treated us equally despite our different backgrounds. He taught us the value of hard work,” said Haji.

Haji termed his death as a loss to the country.

“He was a great leader, teacher and it’s a huge loss to his family and the country as well and no one can fill his shoes,” he said.

The late Moi, who died on Tuesday, is set to be buried at his Kabarak home in Nakuru County.

Moi’s third-born son Raymond (Rongai MP) said the decision was arrived at following a family meeting on Tuesday afternoon.

Raymond said that communication on his father’s burial date will be communicated once the family, the government and the military finalize on the arrangements.

“We are still consulting with the government and it is a State funereal now which has been taken over by the government. It is a military affair now and so we cannot give the exact dates until we liaise with them,” Raymond said.

As a former Head of State, Moi will receive a State funeral, complete with full civilian and military honours.
