The Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) has accused the Kenya Kwanza regime of having a hand in the recent deaths at Kware in Mukuru slums, Nairobi.
In a post shared on Friday, July 12, 2024, KHRC made damning revelations that someone needed to be held accountable on the bodies which had been heavily mutilated.
“Some of the bodies retrieved from a quarry in Mukuru, Embakasi South, today were mutilated. Kenya Kwanza regime, led by @WilliamsRuto, must take accountability for this heinous crime,” KHRC noted.
The commission’s statement comes weeks after it outlined a list of Kenyans who had died and injured during recent protests.
On June 26, 2024, a similar request was made by the commission to President William Ruto requesting him to accept responsibility for the violence that occurred as Kenyan youth peacefully protested.
“Responsibility for these killings lies squarely with Ruto, even though he was not present on the street. He cannot escape accountability. Adamson Bungei, the immediate former Nairobi police commander, is equally liable,” KHRC remarked.
“Ruto has overseen a planned and executable massacre against peaceful protesters who came out across the country to protest the punitive Finance Bill, 2024.”
