Twelve senators voted to save Ferdinand Waititu from impeachment.

However, their numbers were not enough to save the besieged governor from being sent packing by their colleagues.

Here is the list of the senators who voted against Waititu impeachment:

  3. Aaron Cheruiyot-Kericho
  4. Susan Kihika-Nakuru
  5. Christopher Langat-Bomet
  6. Anwar Loitiptip-Lamu
  7. Mithika Linturi-Meru
  8. John Kinyua-Laikipia
  9. Hargura Godana-Marsabit
  10. Moses Wetangula-Bungoma
  11. Mary Seneta-Nominated
  12. Millicent Omanga-Nominated

It seems that the entrenched divisions in Jubilee Party cost Waititu his seat after senators voted to impeach him.

The Kieleweke and Tanga Tanga differences played out on the floor of the Senate during proceedings that were characterized by name-calling, shouting and character assassination.

Deputy President William Ruto’s allies, who identify themselves with the Tanga Tanga group, put up a spirited effort to save the governor’s job led by Majority Leader Murkomen.

Senators Susan Kihika, Loitiptip, Linturi and Cheruiyot also defended the governor.
