Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya coalition co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka, has delivered a message to President William Ruto, urging him to cease the spread of falsehoods and endless pledges.
Sharing on his X account on July 5, 2024, Kalonzo expressed bewilderment at Ruto’s claim of initiating conversations years prior, highlighting the need for accountability in the face of recent events.
“Zakayo, like Voldemort and Pinocchio, has no sense of shame. Surely, how can you possibly claim to have started the Issue Conversation ati four years ago? “ Kalonzo remarked.
Kalonzo requested Ruto to first acknowledge and responsibility for the tragic loss of 41 lives and numerous injuries during the recent anti-finance bill protests.
Further, Kalonzo demanded that Ruto dismisses police chief Japheth Koome as a further measure of pressure on the administration to deal with the aftermath of the protests.
“Also, take full responsibility for the 41 deaths and hundreds of injuries suffered by peaceful Gen Z protesters and sack Inspector General of Police Japheth Koome now! Stop with the lies and bottomless promises. Wasee wamechoka na wamesema #RutoMustGo,” Kalonzo added.

X Space debate
Kalonzo’s comments come hours after Ruto’s national address where he promised to make changes in his administration amid pressure from the youth over his governance.
President Ruto, in his key announcements, highlighted he would reduce budgets in executive offices, renovate, and suspend the position of Chief Administrative Secretaries (CASs), and reduce the number of government advisors.
In the same breath, Ruto initiated a historic public online forum with anti-tax protesters on social media X Spaces.
There were some technical difficulties during the session, which caused it to start about 45 minutes late.
The meeting was called in reference to demonstrations against the finance bill, which were originally organised using X Spaces, a feature on Twitter that lets users host live audio conversations with others.
