The nationwide anti-government protests on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, ended in chaos, drawing sharp criticism from socialite Huddah Monroe.

Goons, thugs and vandals infiltrated the protests causing a doomsday kind of a scenario.

In a series of posts on Instagram on July 2, 2024, Huddah noted that Tuesday’s protests ended in a disaster because it was directionless, unlike previous demonstrations.

“Can we choose one movement and stick to it until accomplished? Movements without direction leads nowhere! It’s pure exhaustion. Let’s choose one, aim at it and go to the next,” Huddah wrote.

She insisted that protesters, mostly Gen Z who were behind the previous demos, needed to maintain a clear and focused plan.

“A single plan is important. If it’s #RUTOMUSTGO that should be the new national anthem. Until done then move to others,” she stated.

Huddah reflected on the success of past protests, such as the #OccupyParliament, attributing their effectiveness to clear goals and coordination.

“Last time it was occupy Parliament we did that. Now we need something,” Huddah said.

“All placards should read the same,” she added.

In her parting shot, Huddah concluded that the anti-government protests have lost purpose and as such people should just wait for the 2027 General Elections to make their voices heard through the ballot.

“This movement has lost the plot, we wait for 2027,” she concluded.

DCI

Meanwhile, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has dispatched detectives to track down gang members who were filmed robbing Kenyans during the protests.

In a statement shared on social media on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, the DCI noted that the gangs took advantage of the demonstrations to violently rob innocent civilians.

“DCI teams have been dispatched to pursue gang members recorded by concerned citizens violently robbing innocent Kenyans on the roads while taking advantage of the ongoing demonstrations,” the DCI said in a statement.

The unrest during the protests highlights the challenges faced by the anti-government movement in maintaining order and focus amidst widespread discontent.

What follows after the chaotic Tuesday protests will surely make or break the anti-government movement that has taken over the country in the past fortnight.
