Fred Omondi finally laid to rest

Comedian Fred Omondi has finally been laid to rest in is rural home in Sega, Siaya County.

The Saturday, June 29, 2024 burial event was attended by hundreds of mourners, including politicians and celebrities.

The comedians brother Eric Omondi could not hold his tears when Fred’s casket was lowered.

In videos that have since gone viral on social media, Eric is heard singing a gospel song as he tried to remain strong when his brother’s remains were lowered into his final resting place.

Eric was, however, overcome by emotions and cried as his wife Lynne Njihia tried to console him.

Fred Omondi mourned

At the burial event, Fred was mourned as an accomplished comedian and emcee who has influenced many in the entertainment industry.

Siaya Governor James Orengo who had accompanied ODM leader Raila Odinga mourned and described Fred as the most sought-after club emcee whose journey was marked by great innovation and resilience.

“Today we bade a final farewell to Fred Omondi, an accomplished comedian and emcee who has influenced many in the entertainment industry from his days at the Churchill show. Fred was one of the country’s most sought-after club emcees, a young man whose journey was marked by great innovation and resilience. May the soul of Fred rest in peace,” Orengo stated in a post made via his official X account.

Celebrated radio host Mzazi Willy M Tuva who also attended the burial took to social media to cherish the moments he shared with Fred.

“Today, we lay our dear friend Fred Omondi to rest in Sega, Siaya County. Cherishing the countless memories we’ve shared, your laughter and spirit will forever remain with us. My deepest condolences to your bro Eric Omondi and the entire family. Rest in peace, Fred,” he posted.

Prince Indah, Terence Creative, Amber Ray, Kennedy Rapudo, Mcee Jessy, Ekebe Mimics and Jacky Vike alias Awinja are some of the notable celebrities who attended the burial.

Many other comedians and content creators were also present.
