Wangila Wabomba, the Personal Assistant to Bumula Member of Parliament (MP) Jack Wamboka has been found after he went missing two days ago.

Wamboka through his official X account on Friday, June 28, 2024, announced that they had managed to find his PA, who is currently recuperating in a hospital.

The lawmaker stated that his aide had undergone a sad ordeal in the hands of the police.

“We managed to find our brother Wangila Wabomba after two days of missing following a sad ordeal in the hand of the police. Thank you for your goodwill messages and raising alarms. He’s recuperating and will be better,” Wamboka said in a statement on X.

On Wednesday, June 26, 2024, Wamboka announced on social media that his aide Wangila had been abducted.

Wamboka’s PA held incommunicado

The lawmaker stated that Wangila had been abducted on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, and was being held incommunicado.

Wamboka said that searches in hospitals and police stations had yielded no fruits, but pointed a blaming finger at the police.

While demanding that the Inspector General of Police Japheth Koome produces his PA, Wamboka stated that he had reported the incident at Bunge police station and notified National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula about Wangila’s missing.

Wamboka on abductions

He termed the abduction of his aide as an intimidation targeting the MPs who had voted against the controversial Finance Bill 2024, which has since been withdrawn by President William Ruto after deadly protests.

“My personal Assistant Wangila Wabomba was abducted yesterday and is incommunicado. We have searched in all hospitals and police stations but he is nowhere to be found and indications point to the police.

“I recorded a statement at Bunge police station, notified National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula. I hereby demand that Inspector General of Police Japheth Koome produce him. This kind of intimidation targeting MPs who stood with Kenyans and voted No is backward and must end,” Wamboka stated.

Abductions of protesters

Several cases of abductions were reported in the country following the Anti-Finance Bill 2024 protests that turned deadly on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, leading to the President’s withdrawal of the Bill.

Most of those abducted were X activists and influencers who have been mobilizing for the protests using trendy hashtags.

The Law Society of Kenya President Faith Odhiambo has been on the forefront fighting for the release of the abducted Kenyans.

Among the social media activists and influencers that were abducted and released later are Gabriel Oguda, Billy The Goat, Drey Mwangi, Shadrack Kiprono alias Shad Khalif, Osama Otero and Kasmuel McOure alias Kaskazini.
