Winnie Odinga, the last-born daughter of opposition leader Raila Odinga, is back on Twitter after a one-month break.
Winnie took a break from social media mid-last month after an ugly spat with a section of supporters of the Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya coalition following the defeat of his father in the August 9 presidential poll.
She had been linked to alleged disorganisation in the Azimio coalition that cost Raila the country’s top job.
Announcing her comeback on the micro-blogging site on Sunday, the BrickHouse Counsel CEO seemed to deny the claims saying there is a ‘whole different system between an election campaign and an election day’.
Back on Twitter after some time and my mentions are in shambles 🤣.

I see you’ve been talking.
Just be knowing there’s a whole different system between an election campaign and an election day. If I was handling the latter I’d be tweeting this from wedding venue!
Talk soon!
Winnie’s role in Raila campaigns
Winnie was a key figure in Raila’s campaign team and never missed to accompany her father to various parts of the country to drum up support for his fifth stab at the presidency.
She had promised Raila’s supporters at a meeting with Mount Kenya Youths that she would wed on the lawns of State House if they elected the former Prime Minister as Kenya’s fifth President.
She said on Sunday that had her father won the election she would be tweeting from the wedding venue.
“Back on Twitter after some time and my mentions are in shambles. I see you’ve been talking.
“Just be knowing there’s a whole different system between an election campaign and an election day. If I was handling the latter I’d be tweeting this from wedding venue! Talk soon!” Winnie stated.
Some of the ardent supporters of Raila, who had taken Winnie head-on over her father’s poll loss, include lawyer Donald Kipkorir.
The squabble started after Kipkorir asked Raila to retire after his failed fifth stab at the presidency, a day before President William Ruto was sworn into office on September 13.
In a tweet, the city lawyer asked the ODM party leader to ‘stop crying for Kenyans’, saying they didn’t deserve his love and sacrifice.
“Dearest Raila Odinga, tomorrow begins Presidency of H.E William Ruto. From the depths of my heart, I beseech you stop crying for us. Don’t look out for Kenya anymore. Your love was unrequited. We didn’t deserve your love & sacrifice. Let’s be with our foibles & chains,” Kipkorir said.
However, the post didn’t augur well with Winnie, who swiftly told the lawyer to ‘shut up for once’.
Reacting to Winnie’s comment, Kipkorir claimed that she was among the people who mismanaged Raila’s campaigns.
“Since 2005, I supported freely every political journey of Raila Odinga. Today, Kenya begins a new Chapter under President William Ruto. Those that let down Baba like Winnie Odinga & others at Azimio Secretariat now want to troll me. The trolling is misplaced & ill-advised,” Kipkorir stated.
Winnie later came out to announce that her Twitter account had been hacked after her tirade of abuse.
“Twitter hacked. Got it back. Everyone can take it easy now,” Winnie Odinga tweeted before her account went offline.
However, Azimio blogger Lord Abraham Mutai claimed that Winnie’s Twitter was not hacked but she deliberately deactivated it after coming under fire over her tweets.
“That entitled arrogant brat Winnie Odinga now claims account was hacked. Stupid. We have witnesses. Videos. Pictures. Evidence of how your abrasiveness, arrogance and intimidation made everyone afraid of you. We won’t hesitate to share. You are cancer on your Father’s legacy,” Mutai tweeted.
