A 25-year-woman who accused her Nigerian boyfriend of forcing her into oral sex and sharing the video online has dropped the criminal case against him before a Nairobi court.
When the matter came for mention before Milimani trial magistrate Robinson Ondieki, the woman identified as CWW urged the court to withdraw the charges against Joseph Adekunle Odu as she had forgiven him.
“I have voluntarily chosen to withdraw the case against the accused person. This is without any coercion and I also confirm he has also not given me anything to drop the case,” the complainant told the court.
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) did not oppose the request to have the several charges of assault, threatening to kill, cyber harassment, and being in possession of bhang withdrawn against the accused person.
Magistrate Ondieki allowed the application for withdrawal and acquitted Adekunle.
Suspect’s house
In the case, the woman had accused her boyfriend of forcing her into the sexual act after meeting him at his house.
It is said that in the house, Adekunle allegedly accused her of having affairs with different men and threatened to kill her with a knife.
He then forced her to perform oral sex on him at knifepoint while recording the ordeal on his phone before later posting the video on his WhatsApp status and Instagram account.
Following the incident, the woman filed a report with the police who later arrested the accused and charged him in court.
The Nigerian man had also been accused of assaulting his girlfriend at Garissa Heights Apartments in Kileleshwa. The woman had informed the police that the accused person whom she dated for two years had assaulted her several times.
She had further accused Adekunle of beating her to the point she almost lost her eyesight after spotting her with a male friend
