Lawyer Miguna Miguna has confirmed he is flying back to Kenya after nearly five years in Canada where he has been staying following his forced deportation.
The exiled lawyer took to social media to announce that he would be touching down at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Sunday, October 25, 2022.
“After nearly 5 years of forced BARBARIC EXILE, I’m returning home. Departing from Toronto: October 24, 2022. Arrival at JKIA, Nairobi: October 25, 2022, at 8:20 PM. See you, everyone,” Miguna Miguna wrote.
Miguna got his passport back
The exiled lawyer on Tuesday revealed that he had gotten his Kenyan passport back, noting that it was made possible by President William Ruto who had previously promised to facilitate his homecoming.
Miguna said that he was waiting for the government to lift the red alerts issued against him which had been barring his return despite several attempts.
“1687 days after Uhuru Kenyatta, @RailaOdinga, Fred Matiang’i, @Karanjakibicho and @GKihalangwa CONSPIRED to illegally SEIZE and DESTROYED my Kenyan Passport, President @WilliamsRuto has had a new one DELIVERED to me. Waiting for the LIFTING of RED ALERTS,” Miguna wrote on Twitter.
He further claimed that he was not required to sign any documents as previously ordered for him to acquire the travel document.
“I didn’t have to sign the silly forms they were speaking about.”
The controversial lawyer put Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and his Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho on notice as he prepares to return to Kenya.
