Three boda boda riders have died in a grisly accident involving two motorcycles along the Loitoktok road in Kajiado County.
Confirming the incident, Loitoktok Sub County police commander Shadrack Ruto said preliminary investigations indicate the riders could have been speeding resulting in deaths and extensive damage to the motorcycles.
Ruto further said both motorcycles had Tanzanian registration numbers and the four had no identification documents.
“Unfortunately three people have lost their lives and one is critically injured. We are investigating the coincidence of the accident involving motorcycles with Tanzanian registration numbers. We cannot conclude that the riders and the pillion passengers are Tanzanians since we did not find a single identification document. So far the four are yet to be identified,” Ruto said.
In the 8 pm Friday, September 2022 accident, two motorbikes with one pillion passengers heading in different directions were involved in a head-on collision near Amboseli junction.
Two riders died on the spot with one pillion passenger succumbing to injuries while being rushed to hospital.
The police commander cautions road users to be careful to avert accidents occasioned by carelessness and speeding.
“Every road user should be responsible enough to guard life by ensuring safe driving, riding and road usage. Our traffic officers are vigil to ensure rogue road users face the law,” he added.
Ruto further said security apparatus in the sub-county are taking stock of increased motorcycles with foreign registration numbers plying the route.
The bodies were moved to Loitoktok Subcounty hospital.
