Media personality Willis Raburu has extended his heartfelt words of empathy to fathers who are navigating the challenging journey of coping with child loss.

Speaking during a recent interview, Raburu emphasized the importance of going through the rollercoaster of emotions that come with such profound grief.

“If you are a dad going through child loss, whether it happened today, last week or last year, I want to say first of all, I am really sorry for your loss. I want to let you know it is important for you to go through this pain you’re going through because it is valid,” Raburu said.

Acknowledging the unique pain and struggles that fathers experience in the aftermath of child loss, Willis Raburu said it was important for dads to understand that grieving a child takes time, but it eventually gets easier.

“It is important for you to understand that it might not go away tomorrow, and it might not go away ever but day by day taking that step, it will be easier,” he said.

Further, Raburu offered words of comfort to fathers who find themselves grappling with the profound loss of a child, adding that they should know the spirit of their children remains in them.

“It is also important to understand that the child is with you. That memory will never go away, whether you lost them at birth, or four or five years, they will always be going to be with you,” Raburu added.

Raburu mourns loss of daughter

Raburu and his first wife Marya Prude lost their daughter, Adana on December 30, 2019.

To keep the memory, Raburu and his first wife, Marya Prude, both got tattoos to honour their child.

In previous interviews, Raburu has said how he has coped with child loss, giving hope and comfort to parents who might be going through a similar journey.

“Losing a child is an experience that nothing can ever prepare you for, and it is perfectly acceptable to grieve and lean on others for support. Keep in mind that seeking solace in others during your darkest days is not a sign of weakness. In time, you will discover a way to honour your child’s memory while finding moments of joy and a renewed sense of purpose in life,” Raburu added.
