A planned power outage scheduled for Monday, June 17, 2024, is set to affect six counties in Kenya, as per the latest announcement from Kenya Power.
The outage, intended for maintenance, will disrupt multiple regions, each experiencing temporary power cuts at different times throughout the day.
“Notice is hereby given under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules that the electricity supply will be interrupted as follows: (Periodic interruptions are necessary to facilitate maintenance and upgrades of power lines, connect new customers, or replace power lines during construction, etc.),” stated Kenya Power on its official website.
Although temporary, this outage is expected to significantly impact various sectors and activities in the affected counties.
The power blackout will affect Embu, Kiambu, Nyeri and Nyamira Counties on Monday, Kenya Power confirmed.
Embu
Area: Mayori Mariari, Kiambere
Time: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Places affected: Ngiori, Iriamurai Mission, Ngiori Airtel, Kamurugu, Kiamukuyu, Machanga Dispensary, Kangungi, Karuki & adjacent customers.
Kiambu
Area: Rironi, Tilisi
Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Places affected: Rironi, KBC, Tilisi, Ngecha, Gatimo, Free Town, Part of Nduma, Keroe, Mirithu & adjacent customers.
Nyeri
Area: Kahuru
Time: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Places affected: Gikororo TBC, Kahuru Mkt, Kianjuu TBC, Ndima Tea Factory, Mathia Mkt, Ndima Kanini TBC, Kahuro TBC, Kiriko, Ndiriti, Gathaithi TBC, Kiangumara TBC, Kianyaga TBC, Kiaruhiu Mkt, Chehe TBC, Gitangaruri TBC & adjacent customers.
Nyamira
Area: Ikonge, Ekerenyo
Time: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Places affected: Mogeni T/Fact, Metarrora T/Fact, Keritor T/Fact, Ikonge, Ekerenyo, Nyamusi, Obwari, Tombe, Nyabikomu, Chisaria Pri & adjacent customers.
