Senator Gloria Orwaba has mourned Njambi Koikai in a poignant tribute, revealing that the office of the First Lady has started to work on putting an endometriosis Centre in Njambi’s honour.
While at the funeral service held in Langata on June 14, 2024, an undeterred Gloria emphasized that her dedication to the cause was not for personal gain, dismissing claims of seeking clout.
“Everybody knows what Njambi did. I choose to celebrate her and I will take it upon myself, if it is the only thing I can do, ata watu wakisema nachase clout nini nini, at least we have to see this story of endometriosis come alive.
“We have to create a Njambi Endometriosis centre so that all of this was not for nothing. At least we assure the women and girls out here suffering from endometriosis that they can have a diagnosis in time, and treatment when it is supposed to be given,” Gloria noted.
Additionally, Gloria said she is determined to meet with endometriosis warriors to amplify awareness and ensure the establishment of an endometriosis centre.
“I will be reaching out to the endo warriors sijui nitawatoa wapi lakini tutaona kama tutapatana nyuma ya tent so that you can join the journey to make sure that Njambi’s legacy is implemented,” Senator Gloria added.

Further, Senator Gloria disclosed that she had reached out to Mama Rachael Ruto the previous week in a bid to facilitate Njambi’s treatment in Atlanta.
Despite not meeting often, Gloria said that her friendship and Njambi had lasted almost a year and days before her passing, she had visited Njambi in the hospital and actively promoted her cause by sharing posters requesting blood donations.
“Unfortunately the week she was in hospital, I called her since we had not reconnected in a while, nikienda kumwona hosi. I had reached out to the first lady, and told her about my friend Njambi, telling her how she changed the life of women.
As Senator Gloria stated, she was saddened when she was informed of Njambi’s passing. She added that Njambi and others were hopeful about taking her to Atlanta for further treatment.
“So I asked the first lady if tunaweza mpeleka atlanta where Njambi’s physician was. Later when I talked to Njambi we had hope, ilikuwa sasa tuanze kupanga how we are going for further treatment but Njambi’s dad notified me of her death before these plans materialized,” Gloria added.
