A middle-aged man from Kangundo, Machakos County was on Thursday, January 9, arraigned at the Kangundo Magistrate’s Court on allegations of engaging in bestiality with a female dog before killing it.

The court was told that Boniface Mutuku Munyao had carnal knowledge of the animal in his Isinya area house on diverse dates, including Wednesday, January 8, at 11am.

The suspect is said to have fatally strangled the dog using a rope after the unnatural act.

Munyao denied the charges before Magistrate D. Orimba, and was freed on Ksh100, 000 cash bail. The case will be heard on January 22.

Neighbours say a few days preceding January 8, they would hear the dog yelping at night.

On Thursday, the residents said they broke into the man’s house after a foul smell emanated from his house.

“We found used condoms and the dog’s carcass in his house,” a neighbour told police.

Mateta area chief Bethel Kingele said it was suspected that Munyao was under the influence of hard drugs, when he committed the alleged crimes.

Kingele said on Thursday, they busted another man committing bestiality with a sheep.

“He is in police custody, and will be arraigned tomorrow (Friday, January 10),” said Kingele.
