Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ababu Namwamba joined creatives, family and friends in eulogizing the late reggae emcee Fyah Mummah Njambi Koikai.
In a tribute, Ababu spoke about Njambi’s position as a cherished figure in the entertainment industry and as a passionate advocate for human rights.
Additionally, the CS noted that Njambi’s dedication to equity and justice was similar to his own.
“Njambi was a beacon of hope and equity, tirelessly advocating for fairness in our society. Her dedication to justice and equity is a passion we shared,” CS Ababu remarked.
Further Ababu added that Njambi’s personality played a huge impact on Kenyans’ deep love for reggae music.
“As a reggae emcee and founder of Street Empire Entertainment, she captivated audiences with her vibrant personality and deep love for the genre,” Ababu added.
Honouring Njambi
Njambi breathed her last on Monday, June 3, 2024, after a long struggle with endometriosis in Nairobi Hospital.
The wake of this news attracted creatives, colleagues, and fans to celebrate the life of a woman who touched so many lives.
Tributes have been pouring in, and many remember her vibrant spirit, infectious energy, and commitment to making a difference.
Kenyans have been posting moving homage to the fallen, bubbly reggae soldier using reggae songs in their tributes. Some noted how Jahmby was the reason they fell in love with the music genre in the first place.
On the sidelines of the funeral meetings currently happening at All Saints Cathedral, Njambi’s mother shared touching memories of her daughter with the media, describing her as a mentor and friend to many.
“We should be brave in her name. Njambi loved you and you loved her. Thank you so much for that,” Njambi’s mother said.
Njambi will be laid to rest on Friday, June 14, 2024, at Langata Cemetery, Nairobi.
