High Court judge Weldon Korir has issued orders restraining the government from interfering with Miguna Miguna entry into the country.

The fiery Kenyan-Canadian lawyer jets into the country on Tuesday, January 7, at about 9pm.

Justice Korir also issued an order directing the High Court Registrar to release Miguna Miguna’s passport to facilitate his entry.

The order was made following an application last week by Miguna Miguna’s lawyer John Khaminwa, the Law Society of Kenya and Kenya National Human Rights Commission.

Miguna was first deported to Canada in February 2018 after the mock swearing-in of opposition leader Raila Odinga at Uhuru Park the previous month.

In March, the lawyer tried to re-enter the country but was turned away at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

But things could be different this time round after President Uhuru Kenyatta hinted that the former candidate for Nairobi governor’s seat was free to return.

President Kenyatta made the comments in Kandara, Murang’a during the funeral of democracy hero Charles Rubia.

“I have heard that some people are planning to fly into the country. Let them come but they should use their freedom to spread peace and help fight corruption,” said the Head of State.
