In a notice on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, the national carrier explained that it had received key engine components which would be used to fix one of the grounded 787 Dreamliner.
The Dreamliner was part of its fleet which had been grounded due to engine issues forcing Kenya Airways to reschedule most flights in the past couple of days.
“On Sunday, May 19th, 2024, we issued an update regarding disruptions in our flight schedules due to the unscheduled and extended grounding of two of our 787 Dreamliners,” Kenya Airways stated.
“This grounding was caused by constraints in delivery of engine components. Today, we are pleased to announce that we have received the necessary engine components for one of the affected aircraft,” the statement added.
Kenya Airways resumes normal services

The disruption affected several passengers who had made their travelling plans. However, Kenya Airways explained that its team had maintained a constant communication network with the affected travellers and has since made some adjustments.
“Over the past few days, our dedicated teams have worked tirelessly to readjust our network and schedules. We have also proactively communicated with the passengers who were impacted by these changes. We are delighted to report that our network is returning to normal,” Kenya Airways detailed.
Nonetheless, the national carrier expressed regret on the inconvenience caused by the service disruption.
The management of Kenya Airways asserted that there are critical measures being implemented to ensure the safety of travellers and minimum disruption.
“Rest assured that we are exerting every effort to swiftly and efficiently resolve this issue. Your safety and well-being, along with that of our crew, remain our unwavering priority.”
