Savara Mudigi has cancelled the much-hyped USA Madaraka Festival scheduled on Saturday, June 1, 2024, days after Nyashinski cancelled a similar concert.

Taking to his Instagram page, the multi-talented artiste stated that he would not be part of the musicians who will perform at the 2024 US Madaraka Festival due to visa delays.

“I regret to inform you that due to unforeseen visa delays, I will not be able to travel to the United States for the upcoming Madaraka Festival. I understand how disappointing this news is and I share in your frustration,” he stated.

Savara’s promise

Promising an unforgettable performance, Savara further stated that he is working with the promoter and in collaboration with the Madaraka Festival team to reschedule his US tour dates for this year.

“However, I am actively working with the promoters to reschedule my tour dates for this year. We are committed to making this happen and will announce the new dates as soon as they are confirmed in collaboration with the Madaraka Festival team,” he assured his fans.

“Thank you for your understanding and continued support. I look forward to seeing you soon and making it up to you with an unforgettable performance”.

Nyanshinski Visa delays

Early this week Nyanshinski also disclosed that he will not be performing at the 2024 US Madaraka Festival due to Visa delays.

Days ago, US Ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman set the record straight on why the American embassy usually denies many applicants visas.

Speaking during an interview with a local station on May 15, 2024, Whitman justified that the embassy has been right to deny visas despite others being wrong.

The ambassador, responding to a question during the interview, also explained that they deny visas in such cases to remain vigilant and cautious of individuals likely to harm the US.

“We do deny people visas and are we always right? No. But are we mostly right? Yes. Think about it everyone wants to come to America and some bad people want to come to America. Terrorists, money launders, people who have overstayed their visas before, people who have let their Green Card expire and then come back,” she asserted.

2024 US Madaraka Festival Tour

On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, the organiser of the US Madaraka Festival through their official social media pages announced that the much-anticipated festival had been cancelled.

“As we near our 10th anniversary, we are excited to mark this significant milestone with all of you. However, regrettably, due to unforeseen visa processing issues impacting some of our headline performers, we find it necessary to postpone the festival to a later date this year. Rest assured, we will promptly announce the rescheduled dates for the Madaraka Festival USA Tour,” read part of the official statement.

Those who bought tickets for the festival will be refunded, the organisers promised.

“Ticketmaster will be sending emails to all current ticketholders with instructions and information on refunds. Refunds will be available at the point of purchase. We urge you to stay engaged with us for updates by following our social media channels and subscribing to the Madaraka Festival Podcast on YouTube for the most up-to-date information,” they said.
