The High Court in Abuja has declared that sex work is not a criminal offence in Nigeria.

It is the first time a Nigerian court has a ruled on its legality and the judgement came in a case involving 16 women who were arrested for prostitution.

Amaka Narah Enemo, national coordinator for the Nigeria Sex Workers Association, welcomed the court ruling.
