The Kenya Meteorological Department has announced that the Central Highlands including Nairobi will experience continued rainfall.

In a forecast shared for Thursday, May 16, 2024, the weatherman said the continued rains will also be experienced in Western Kenya, parts of Northwestern, Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley regions.

The department added that the mentioned areas are likely to experience isolated heavy rainfall.

“Rainfall. Expect continued rainfall in the Central Highlands (incl. Nairobi), Western Kenya, parts of Northwestern, Lake Victoria Basin, and Rift Valley regions. Isolated heavy rainfall events likely in these areas,” the forecast reads in parts.

The weatherman also stated that Machakos and Kajiado counties will experience sporadic showers, however, some parts of the country will continue to experience dry conditions.

Earlier, the weatherman had announced that there would be no severe flooding in the country in the coming days because the peak of rains was in April.

“The peak of rains was in April, so no severe flooding is likely. Occasional rain is however likely over Western Kenya, parts of the Rift Valley, Central Kenya, & coastal strip. “Game parks should generally be accessible. Enjoy ua vacation!” the department said in a statement.

This came after the department announced that there would be sunny intervals in most parts of the country.

In the update shared on Saturday, the department said there would be a significant reduction in rainfall across different regions, however, areas within the Western, Rift Valley, Central Kenya and the Lake Victoria Basin regions would experience occasional rainfall.

“Sunny intervals are expected across most parts of the country, with a significant reduction in rainfall likely across various regions. However, occasional rainfall is also expected, particularly in Western, Rift Valley, Central Kenya, and the Lake Victoria Basin 🌦️ #WeatherUpdate,” the weatherman said in a statement.
