The National Treasury on Thursday released Sh2.9 billion to the Nairobi County as part of its shareable revenue.

This is after Treasury marked efforts by City Hall to clear its pending bills after the national government pegged transfer of funds to counties on clearing outstanding debts to contractors and suppliers.

The directive to peg transfer of shareable revenue to counties on ability to clear pending bills was issued on Wednesday by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.

And during Thursday’s Cabinet meeting chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta, it was agreed that an inter-agency will verify historical pending bills worth Sh40 billion within one month.

Further, the Cabinet reiterated that all arms of government should move quickly to settle all bills that were audited and verified by the office of the Auditor-General.

UNAIDS Award

Meanwhile, the Nairobi County’s HIV program received an award during the Ministry of Health, National AIDS and STI Programme annual review meeting held in Mombasa .

The county emerged top in terms of access, treatment, care and suppressing HIV viral loads despite having the highest number of adults living with HIV.

The award was given during the Ministry of Health ,National AIDS and STI Program (NASCOP) annual review meeting held in Mombasa Pride Inn Paradise Hotel from 17th to 19th December 2019
