Tuesday blackout to affect Nairobi, 8 other counties

Kenya Power has issued a statement informing Kenyans of a scheduled blackout that will affect nine counties on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

According to the utility company, the blackout scheduled for tomorrow will affect Nairobi, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Siaya, Kisii, Nyeri, Kilifi, Lamu and Tana River counties.

In Nairobi, the blackout will affect Buruburu area from 9 am to 5 pm. Parts of the area that will be affected include Jerusalem, Jericho, parts of Kimathi Estate, Metro Villas, Harambee Estate, Uhuru Estate, Part of Buru Phase 1, Buruburu Primary and adjacent customers.

The blackout in Uasin Gishu county will affect the whole of Kapseret Lemook area including Kapseret, Kapseret Lemook, Mosombor, Shajnaand, Quarry, Chinese Quarry, Nilkath Quarry, Kapteldon and adjacent customers from 9.30 am to 5 pm.

In Nandi, the whole of Emdin Lelmokwo area including Kwa Philip Magut, Emdin Lelmokwo, Kipkongorwa areas and adjacent customers will be affected from 10 am to 3 pm.

Parts of Siaya that will be affected by the blackout from 9 am to 5 pm include; Simenya, Kodiaga, Maliera School, Sirembe, Lundha, Gogo Market, Nyangweso, Siriwo and adjacent customers.

In Kisii, the blackout will run from 7.20 am to 2.20 pm and will affect part of Kisii town including Embonga Hotel, Kisii East Garage, CITAM church, Senti, Botori SDA, Marshak Hotel, Bosongo Hospital, Le-Premier Hotel, Kisii Junction Hotel, Mwenzangu Building and adjacent customers.

The blackout in Nyeri will affect Thunguma and Kagayu areas from 8 am to 5 pm.

Areas that will be affected include; PG Mureithi, Kagayu, Thunguma Market and School, Ndunyu and adjacent customers.

Similarly, the blackout in Kilifi will affect parts of Marereni and Gongoni areas from 9 am to 5 pm. Areas that will be affected include; Marereni, Gongoni, Krystalline salt, Kensal Salt, Marafa, Malindi salt, KEMU salt, Mwembe Resort, Savanna, Adu, Ngomeni, Kabicha Water and adjacent customers.

The blackout in Lamu will affect Lamu Island including Mpeketoni, Hindi, Mokowe, Witu, Kipini, MOA village, Kenya Navy, KPA Lamu, Nyongoro and adjacent customers from 9 am to 5 pm.

In Tana River, the scheduled blackout will affect Hola and Masalani areas including; Garsen, Hola, Masalani, Bura, Mango Plant, Makutano, Mau Mau sec, Charidende market and adjacent customers from 8 am to 5 pm.
