Education minister Prof. George Magoha on Wednesday acknowledged the hard work some of the 2015 KCPE low scorers put into their secondary education to score high grades in this year’s national tests.
The cabinet secretary acknowledged the following students:
- Kinyua Milka Wanjiru, who sat KCSE 2019 at Gathara Secondary School: She scored 179 out 500 marks in KCPE 2015, and got a mean grade of B- (Minus) in this year’s KCSE exam.
- Munyoki Mwikali sat this year’s KCSE exam at Mama Malia Secondary School. She scored 199 marks in KCPE 2015 and now has a mean grade of B- (Minus).
- Sharon Chepkoech sat the 2019 KCSE at Zaire Secondary School. She got 183 marks in KCPE and now has a mean grade of C+ (Plus).
- Mbugua Macharia also scored below 200 marks in KCPE 2015, but now has a mean grade of C + (Plus). He sat KCSE 2019 at Kiambaa Mixed Secondary School.
- Another candidate, Joseph Mwangi, who scored 193 marks in KCPE 2015, also got a C+ (Plus) in KCSE 2019.
- Mureti Timothy of Kirindara Mixed Secondary School got a mean grade of C+ (Plus) in KCSE 2019, despite registering 194 marks out of the possible 500 in KCPE 2015.
- Another big surprise acknowledged by Magoha was Muchai Gachie, who scored 277 marks in KCPE 2015, but now has a mean grade of A- (Minus) in KCSE 2019. He sat the exam at Nyakiambi Secondary School.
