Tension is high in Emuhaya sub-county, Vihiga county after a dreaded gang killed a night watchman and trader.

The criminals are said to have attacked the night guard who was guarding a shop at Emakakha village market in North East Bunyore ward and killed him using machetes. They then broke into the shop and killed the owner before stealing goods and money.

The criminals also broke into several shops at the market.

Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has challenged police to arrest the criminals behind the attack.“I am disturbed by reports of the brutal murder of a watchman and a shop owner at Emakakha market in North East Bunyore.

It is further disheartening that the night raid by criminal elements also saw several shops broken into,” decried Osotsi.

He said the incident at Emakakha market is painful considering there is a police camp in the neighbourhood that is lying idle because police officers have not been posted there in a long time.

He said; “I am calling on security agencies to wake up to the reality and serve the people as it is required. I stand with the families that have lost their loved ones and urge for calm.”

The attack happened three weeks ago after night guards were also killed by unknown criminals in Luanda and Majengo.
