At least seven people lost their lives after a lorry collided with a matatu at Nyalunya along the Katito-Homa Bay road in Kisumu County on Wednesday evening February 21, 2024.
Nyanza Regional Traffic Enforcement Officer Allan Mwangi confirmed the accident saying police are still investigating the matter.
“So far seven people have lost their lives in the tragic accident we are still probing it,” Mwangi said.
The accident occurred around 5 pm.
Eyewitnesses said the accident occurred when the lorry, which was ferrying sand, lost control and collided head-on with the matatu.
Kenya Red Cross said nine people injured in the accident were taken to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital within Kisumu City for treatment.
“Nine injured individuals have been taken to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital. Our team in Kisumu will provide psychosocial support and tracing services. The scene has been cleared by
