Former Miss Kenya 2006 beauty queen Cecilia Mwangi says that she has equipped herself properly to take up boardroom roles with confidence.

This is after her graduation on Friday with a Masters in Business Administration in Strategic Management from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.

“I’m at a point in my life where I interact a lot in boardrooms. I needed to develop my skills; the lingo, negotiation skills, project management and communications,” she intimated to us.

She added: “I now feel I am more than ready to take up boardroom meetings. Skills development is key in career development.”

Besides her heroics in the beauty pageantry, Cecilia — in collaboration with the Ahadi Kenya Trust — has been a key figure in the fight against jigger infestation in the country.

She urges young girls aspiring to realize their dreams to work hard for them to be competitive in the market.

“They should work to always be ahead of time in the sectors they are pursuing, learn best practices and develop new skills to ensure they have a competitive advantage. Times are changing and so are the processes. They must make sure they are aligned to the changes,” she said.

She has also initiated countrywide campaigns to empower young girls through her Cecilia Mwangi Foundation.
