The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced traffic disruption on both carriageways of Mombasa Road (A8), between Ole – Sereni and Athi River Interchange.

In a public notice on Thursday, February 8, 2024, KeNHA attributed the traffic interruptions to ongoing road maintenance works.

However, the agency did not specify the timelines for disruption of the normal flow of traffic on the busy highway.

Motorists have been urged to cooperate with police and other officials on-site as the road works continue.

“Traffic movement will be guided by police, assisted by the contractor staff on site as maintenance works proceed,” KeNHA stated.

“Motorists using this road are advised to: Approach the affected sections with caution as some lanes will be closed and traffic subjected to share lanes and follow the traffic signs and guidance in place as shall be directed by Traffic Marshalls and Police on site.”

Mombasa Road is one of the busiest highways in the country, connecting Nairobi to the coastal city of Mombasa and facilitating the movement of goods and people to and from the coastal region.

The highway is also an essential route for transportation to and from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), which is located along the road.
