Makutano Junction star Charles Ouda dies aged 38

Renowned Kenyan actor Charles Ouda has passed on at the age of 38, six months after his engagement to former BBC Africa presenter Ciru Muriuki.

In an announcement made on behalf of his family and fiancée Ciru Muriuki, it was confirmed that the thespian died on the night of Saturday, February 3, 2024.

“It is with deep sorrow that the family of Charles ‘Charlie’ J. Ouda and Ciru Muriuki inform you of his passing on the night of 3rd February 2024. He was a beloved son, brother, and friend. Charlie was 38 years old,” the statement read.

“We appeal to all to give his fiancée Ciru, and the Oudas space to grieve this unfathomable loss. More details will be given in due course,” the statement continued.

Adding;

“Once again, we urge all to respect the privacy of those involved.”

Charles is known for his role in films like ‘Makutano Junction’, ‘The First Grader’ and ‘Count It Out’

He has received several accolades for his contributions to the film industry. Notably, the esteemed Best Director award at the 2016 Asian American Film Lab 72 Hour Shoot Out, as well as multiple honours from the NYC Indie Film Awards.
