Two police officers were on Sunday morning arrested during a botched robbery in Eastleigh, Nairobi.
Police Constables Ali Shukri Galgalo and Abdikadir Daiwo had boarded an Uber taxi posing as passengers who wanted to be taken to Pangani but turned to be robbers.
They took control of the car and drove towards Eastleigh.
On reaching the Kilimanjaro roundabout, one of the officers lost control of the car and it crashed and stalled at the roundabout.
The two officers attempted to escape on foot but they were arrested by colleagues on patrol.
It was then established that they were police officers. Police headquarters said Constable Galgalo was based at the Quarry police post while his colleague, Constable Daiwo, is based at the Muthaiga Police Station.
The taxi, a Mazda Demio registration number KCW 261D, had earlier been hired by Stanley Mwaniki who wanted to be taken from General Waruinge road to Mathare Chief’s camp.
After he was dropped off, the two officers boarded the same Uber and forced the driver to the back seat and drove towards Eastleigh when they crashed.
