Moja Expressway has informed motorists about a five-day traffic interruption due to planned maintenance at the Haile Selassie Toll Station Entrance B, situated near the Kenya Railways Museum.

In an official statement, Moja Expressway said the maintenance work is scheduled to take place from Thursday, January 25th, to Tuesday, January 30th, 2024.

Motorists were assured that only a small portion of the lane would be affected during this period.

“Please be advised that there will be ongoing road maintenance works at Haile Selassie Toll Station Entrance B (next to Kenya Railways Museum) from Thursday, 25th to Tuesday, 30th January 2024. Please note that only a small portion of the lane will be affected. Plan your trip accordingly by ensuring your safety and the safety of others on the road. Please drive with caution around the maintenance area,” Moja Expressway said.

Haile Selassie Exit Plaza

The maintenance announcement comes shortly after the commencement of the trial operation for the Nairobi Expressway Haile Selassie Exit Plaza, which began last week.

Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen inaugurated the trial operation noting the impact it would have on the region’s traffic flow.

“We are pleased to announce that the trial operation of the newly completed Nairobi Expressway Haile Selassie Exit Plaza will commence on Saturday, January 20, 2024,” Moja Expressway said.

Murkomen said the Haile Selassie Exit Plaza is designed to ease traffic congestion for motorists using the Expressway from Mlolongo, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), and other entry points along Mombasa Road.

The exit features five lanes and directs traffic in two directions: one leading to Processional Way into Haile Selassie Avenue and the other towards Kenyatta Avenue roundabout.

“The new Exit, which has five lanes, will now grant motorists using the Expressway from Mlolongo, JKIA, and other entry points along Mombasa Road, easy access to the Nairobi CBD, Ngong Road, and Upper Hill and reduce traffic congestion from Capital Centre to Haile Selassie roundabout,” Murkomen explained.
