Health Cabinet Secretary(CS) Nakhumicha Wafula has appointed Charlene Ruto as the new Kenya blood ambassador.
In a statement through her official X account on Thursday, January 18, 2024, Charlene attached the appointment letter dated December 14, 2023, and an appeal for Kenyans to donate blood.
“Thank you to the Ministry of Health and our CS Susan Nakhumicha for including me in this initiative run by @official_ktta and supported by @kenyan_by_blood Let’s donate blood!”
In the letter, Nakhumicha noted that Charlene Ruto’s appointment follows her efforts to mobilise resources and support blood donation activities.
Charlene will be working closely with the local blood services team to help coordinate blood drives and raise awareness on the same.
“The Ministry of Health recognizes and appreciates your selfless contribution to Kenya through your consistent blood donation, advocacy and educating and mobilizing others to engage in blood donation. Special recognition is on your efforts to mobilize resources that support blood donation activities and blood establishments.
“This letter is to appoint you as a and ask that you continue to be the spokesperson to your friends, Kenyan Youth Family, peers and Kenyan citizens and to engage and encourage people to give blood to save lives. From time to time, collaborate with the Kenya Tissue and Transport Authority or partners in blood-related events,” part of the letter states.
