The founder of the Nairobi Institute of Business Studies (NIBS), Emory Hotel and Liziie Preparatory Schools, Lizzie Wanyoike, has died.
The family said the businesswoman breathed her last on Sunday, January 14 at the age of 72.
“In loving memory of a remarkable educator. Her passion ignited minds, her kindness touched hearts. A beacon of wisdom, she left an indelible mark on countless lives, shaping futures with grace,” the eulogy read.
Kameme FM presenter Muthoni wa Kirumba, who was one of the initial sources to report, disclosed that Lizzie Wanyoike had battled cancer before her passing.
“Rip, Madam Liz wanyoike- Nibs college. 
Cancer will also Die!!!! Dance with the angels,” Muthoni wrote on her Facebook.
Who is Lizzie Wanyoike?
Born in November 1951, Wanyoike pursued education at Kenyatta University, earning a Diploma in Education. Following her divorce, she utilized her savings of Ksh6 million and a Ksh4 million loan to establish the Temple College of Secretarial Studies in Nairobi, with a mission to mentor young girls and promote education.
Beginning with 25 students, the college, now known as NIBS, has grown exponentially, boasting over 6,000 students.
Its branches are located in Ongata Rongai, Thika Town, Nairobi CBD, and Ruiru-Kimbo along Thika Highway.
Wanyoike’s expansion included the Emory Hotel in Kileleshwa, a four-star establishment for business and hospitality training, and the Lizzie Wanyoike Preparatory School.
