Kenyan rapper Nazizi Harji and her husband, Tanaka, are mourning the loss of their three-year-old son, Jazeel.

In a press statement dated December 26, Nazizi said Jazeel passed on December 25, 2023, during the family’s stay at a hotel in Tanzania.

According to the statement, Jazeel was laid to rest on December 26 in Nairobi, following the religious customs of the family.

The grieving parents expressed the profound sorrow and deepest heartache they are experiencing.

“In these dark times, the light of a child’s life—in all its innocence and joy—is undeniably the purest. The void left by the loss is immeasurable, and the pain is unbearable,” the statement read.

In an appeal to the public, Nazizi requested privacy and respect during this difficult time, urging the media, fans, and the public to uphold the sanctity of family and the preciousness of life.

“We kindly request everyone to allow Nazizi and her family the space they need to begin the healing process,” the statement continued.

Nazizi also expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of support and requested prayers for her family during this incredibly difficult time.

“We kindly remind all entities to refrain from reaching out to the family directly to respect their privacy,” the statement concluded.
