Visiting Queen Camilla on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, visited the Brook EA donkey sanctuary.
Brooke EA is an affiliate of Brooke UK which is an animal welfare charity organisation working to alleviate the suffering of working equines.
“The charity’s mission is to improve the lives of equine animals, and the communities which depend on them,” the Royal Family said in a statement.

Queen Camilla is the President of Brook UK and Brook EA.
During the visit, Queen Camilla explored Brrok’s work with school kids in Donkey Care Clubs, where young animal welfare advocates express their compassion through art, songs, and more.
“Today, they showcased art and a heartfelt poem, championing better donkey care,” Brook EA stated.
“In Kenya, working donkeys are primarily relied upon for the transport of water, firewood, farm produce, and commercial goods. They also work in extractive industries in extremely harsh conditions. Unfortunately, many of these animals are affected by poor welfare. Brooke East Africa was set up in 2013 to positively impact vulnerable equines and their communities.”
In a statement, the Brook said the Queen, who has been President of Brooke since 2006, is a strong supporter of equine welfare and has travelled the world to see Brooke’s work in places such as Egypt, Pakistan and India.
“We are honoured to have Her Majesty visit Brooke’s work in Kenya. Her love and passion for equines is well known, and her commitment to promoting the welfare of working equids is an inspiration for everyone in the Brooke family, wherever they work in the world. Such visits help us to showcase the immense contribution that working horses, donkeys and mules make to some of the poorest communities in the world,” Chief Executive of Brooke Chris Wainwright said.
The royal visit to Kenya began on October 31 lasting until November 3.
