A pest control company’s annual list of the “Rattiest Cities” in the United States found Chicago in the top spot for the ninth consecutive year.
Orkin said the 2023 Rattiest Cities List is based on the number of new rodent treatments performed by the company from September 1, 2022 to August 31, 2023 showcasing the demand and also indicates efforts that residents and businesses of the top cities have taken to treat rodent issues.
This ranking includes both residential and commercial pest control treatments.
Chicago took the top spot on the list for the ninth consecutive year, while Los Angeles rose to number two on this year’s list and New York fell to the third spot.
The rest of the top 10 were Washington, DC; San Francisco; Philadelphia, Baltimore, Denver, Detroit and the Cleveland-Akron metropolitan area in Ohio.
“Each fall, mice and other rodents invade an estimated 21 million homes in the United States,” the company said.
“They typically enter homes between October and February looking for food, water and shelter from the cold.”
