Veteran Taarab singer Khadija Kopa has come out to address the shocking incident that happened in Mbeya where her daughter Zuchu was hit by a projectile.

Speaking during an interview with S500 TV, Kopa was asked how she felt as a mother seeing what her daughter went through.

Kwako kama wewe mzazi ulifeel vipi kuona tukio kama lile mashabiki wanafanya kitu kama kile kwake, kwa mtu ambaye hana hatia yoyote?” The interviewer asked Zuchu’s mother.

Kopa noted that such incidents of unruly fans throwing objects at musicians are a common occurrence.

She added that fans could throw anything at artistes on stage for no apparent reason or just to seek 15 seconds of fame.

Vile vitu vya kawaida kwa wasanii. Wasanii wakubwa wakubwa pia wanafanyiwa vitu kama vile. Hio ni vitu vya kawaida. Mtu anaweza kukurushia kitu chochote. Ni vitu za kawaida. Wakati mwingine mtu hana chuki ata yoyote. Ashakunywa anaona basi wacha nifanye kitu nionekane, vitu kama hivo,” Khadija Kopa said.

Wasafi Festival

Zuchu was forced to exit the stage after she was hit with an object while performing at the Wasafi Festival in Mbeya city on September 30, 2023.

The Wasafi songbird was performing her hit song ‘Kwikwi’ during the Wasafi festival VIP pre-party when the incident happened.

Video which captured the incident showed the ‘Sukari’ hit maker exiting the stage with the help of bouncers dressed in full black attire. Fans were left baffled as the tense scenes quickly escalated.
