Genge star Hubert Mbuku Nakitare, better known as Nonini, thinks Kenya is headed in the wrong direction.
In a statement on his social media pages, the ‘Furahiday’ hitmaker said he was not proud of President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza government and sought Kenyans’ apology for supporting it.
“Looking back at how our country is going a year down the line with this government. I want to share my apology loudly to Kenyans for supporting this government and some leaders you know I did,” Nonini wrote on Monday.
He added: “It takes a strong person to admit they were wrong and niko ready for any matusi hapo kwa comments but at least niko bold enough ku admit mambo Kenya sio poa and some of our leaders have failed us terribly. Poleni Sana wakenya wenzangu.”

Nonini’s remarks come days after a recent survey showed a majority of Kenyans believe the country is headed in the wrong direction due to rising cost of living.
According to the report released by Trends and Insights For Africa (TIFA) last Tuesday, 53 per cent of Kenyans believe that their economic situation has deteriorated since President Ruto assumed office, a year ago.
A total of 1,007 respondents participated in the survey that covered Coast, Lower Eastern, Mt. Kenya, Nairobi, Northern, Nyanza, South Rift, and Western regions.
