The fear of a law suit seems to have driven Safaricom to unveil data bundles and airtime with no expiry date.
This is after city based lawyer Adrian Kamotho filed a complaint with the communications and appeals tribunal on Tuesday accusing three telecommunication firms of unfair trade practices.
In his case Mr. Kamotho alleged that Safaricom,Airtel and Telkom Kenya were taking advantage of poor kenyans by taking away their unused data bundles upon expiry within a limited period.
To avoid a protracted legal battle Safaricom the largest telecom in Kenya appears to have preempted the case by simply repackaging its bundles in a move that will not only excite its consumers but also will ensure that any intended law suit is not instituted.
The telco announced the new strategy on Wednesday, October 23, in bid to promote transparency and honesty.
Both data bundles, calls and SMS with no expiry are immediately available on *544#.
