Trade Cabinet Secretary (CS) Moses Kuria has dismissed claims by Eric Omondi that he refunded him Ksh126,000.
Eric on June 24, 2023, shared a screenshot of an M-Pesa transaction purporting to show Ksh126,000 sent to the Trade CS.
However, hawkeyed netizens noticed there was no hyphen in the word ‘M-Pesa’ in the message Eric shared. His message read ‘New MPesa balance…’
Speaking during an interview with Mungai Eve, Eric was asked about the discrepancy in his M-Pesa message and he opted to call Moses Kuria and put him on speaker phone in a bid to get him to confirm that he sent him the money.
However, the Trade CS confirmed that Eric didn’t send him a dime.
Eric Omondi: Waziri.
Moses Kuria: Sema bwana.
Eric Omondi: Habari gani?
Moses Kuria: Hio pesa iko wapi?
Eric Omondi: Ndo nimefika kutoka Tanzania nimekuja na pesa kidogo.
Moses Kuria: Hehehe.
Eve Mungai: Aliweka M-Pesa message fake.
Moses Kuria: Sindio. Imagine Eric Omondi atume Ksh26,000? Wacha Ksh126,000.
Eric Omondi: Ni vile anapata pesa mingi hakuona yangu.
Eve Mungai: Amesema hukutuma.
Eric Omondi further stated that Moses Kuria and he are good friends in spite of their online ‘brawl’.
US trip
Moses Kuria on June 7, 2023, slammed Eric Omondi on live TV over his constant criticisms of the government.
The Trade CS, while faulting the comedian for being a thorn in the government’s flesh, expressed regret for sponsoring his trip to the US seven years earlier.
Kuria noted that he should have squandered the money he used to cater for Eric’s travel to the US.
“Ni lazima tuwe watu ambao tunajilinganisha na dunia nzima. Nimeskia Eric akisema ni kijana. Miaka saba iliyopita nilichukua pesa yangu nikampeleka America ndio aone vile dunia iko. Saa hii vile anaongea, afadhali ningetumia hio pesa kwa sherehe,” Kuria stated amidst laughter.
Eric, who was also on the same TV platform, had taken a swipe at the President William Ruto-led government claiming it has been making empty promises to Kenyans.
London
After Kuria embarrassed him on live TV, Eric Omondi opted to fly to London just to ‘have lunch’.
The comedian said he flew to the UK just to prove a point to the Trade CS.
“After hearing Moses Kuria speak, I decided to take myself to London just for lunch and also thank God for how far he has brought us,” Eric said in an InstaStory video he posted on social media.
