“The other deceased rider from the opposite direction had a pillion passenger aged 27 years. As a result of the accident, both riders were fatally injured and burnt beyond recognition,” Mutoro said.
Mutoro, who expressed concerns about the increasing number of accidents caused by boda boda operators in Narok, said the wife of the rider who perished sustained a fractured hip joint while the daughter sustained an injury on the right leg as the other pillion passenger in the second motorbike sustained injuries on the lower back.

In the last 15 years, thousands of riders, their passengers and pedestrians have been killed and injured in boda boda crashes, raising public concern.
The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has told boda boda operators to take safety precautions seriously, especially when ferrying passengers.
NTSA ranked motorcycles as the most dangerous mode of transport in 2022. According to data, boda boda contributed to the highest number of fatalities in 2022 recording 1,209 fatalities. This is an increase compared to the 1,154 recorded in the previous year.
